I work at the Smithfield YMCA because: I love knowing that what I do everyday gives back to the community. I love the bonds and relationships I have created so far.
I’ve been involved with the Smithfield YMCA for 2 years.
Favorite YMCA Memory:Celebrating different holidays with our school’s out program. brings a new meaning to family!

Something that may surprise you about me/interesting fact about me: I always wanted to be an FBI agent!

 

Abigail Parente- Childcare Counselor

Title/Job & Company: Childcare Counselor
What I love most about the Smithfield YMCA: The kids and getting to work with good people! There’s never a dull moment.
I work at the Smithfield YMCA because: I love working with kids + I have a lot of experience doing so, it pushes me outside my comfort zone at times and challenges me. Thankful for it!
I’ve been involved with the Smithfield YMCA for how many years? Through my life I’ve been involved with the YMCA, but more recently within the past two years I’ve started to work here. 
Favorite YMCA Memory: Summer Camp! While it’s a lot to handle it’s absolutely one of the best parts of the job, working with friends and having fun with the kids.
Family: I only have one sibling, and he and my dad actually work for the YMCA in the Aquatics department!
Education: I’m currently enrolled in school to pursue my degree in Christian Leadership and Management.
Something that may surprise you about me/interesting fact about me: I’ve written six books and I love any type of art medium!

 

Trinity Moison- YMCA Camp and After School Counselor

Title/Job & Company: YMCA Camp and After School Counselor
What I love most about the Smithfield YMCA: the community! The Y is full of so many amazing people, I feel so welcomed every time I walk through the door.
I work at the Smithfield YMCA because:building bonds and creating memories with the kids is such a fulfilling thing to do. To create such a positive impact on their lives, to make them smile and laugh each day. It’s such a beautiful thing.
I’ve been involved with the Smithfield YMCA for 8 months.
Favorite YMCA Memory: Playing ukulele with the kids and singing songs with them. They all wanted me to teach them how to play!
Other work experience: I was a barista before this!
Family: I live with my dad! I have two older sisters, as well as a niece and a nephew!
Education: I graduated from Smithfield High School in 2020. I took a little break from school but I’ll be going back to college next year!
Something that may surprise you about me/interesting fact about me: I love to collect rocks and antique books!! I have a 2nd Edition Mother Goose Nursery Rhyme book from 1897!! I LOVE to sing and play instruments! I write poetry and draw in my spare time!!

 

Ava Williams- YMCA Summer Camp & Childcare Counselor

What I love most about the Smithfield YMCA:What I love most about the Smithfield YMCA is how community based and involved we are. We provide many opportunities for children, adults, and all ages to have fun and live a healthy lifestyle. We’re like a Family! And everyone is accepted and supported.
I work at the Smithfield YMCA because: I love kids! As someone who plans to work with children in the futute, it’s a great experience opportunity, and it makes going to work exciting and fun! 
I’ve been involved with the Smithfield YMCA for almost 1 year.
Favorite YMCA Memory: My favorite YMCA experience so far was working the summer camp because of all the relationships that are built with the kids and other counselors throughout the summer! It was so much fun that there were a lot of times I found myself thinking “I have the best job ever.”
Other work experience: Other than working at the YMCA, I’m currently a dance teacher at the Marie K. Jennison School Of Dance in Greenville.
Family: In my family I live with my Mom and Dad, and I’m the oldest of 3 kids! My sister is 17, and my brother is 14. I also have a dog named Benny!
Education: I grew up in Smithfield and attended Pleasant View Elementary, (formerly Anna McCabe), Gallagher Middle School, and graduated from Smithfield High School in 2021. I’m currently a student at the Community College of Rhode Island studying music therapy.
Something that may surprise you about me/interesting fact about me: One fact about me is that I’m a singer and I also play piano and guitar!
