Jennifer Roy- Senior Aquatic Director

What I love most about the Smithfield YMCA: The feeling that everyone is family. There is a special bond between the members that you don’t find in other environments.
I work at the Smithfield YMCA because: It feels like home! You become a big part in the lives of the members and the appreciation they show make coming to work not feel like a job.
I’ve been involved with the Smithfield YMCA for 12.5  years.
Favorite YMCA Memory: Stepping outside of the limo at my wedding to see four of the members of my water aerobics class excited to see me. Also having many of the swim team families there to support me made me
Other work experience: experience I worked in a day care center as a toddler teacher for 4 years and a buser at an Italian restaurant for 8  years.
Family: I have been married to my Husband for 2 years and we just had twin girls!
Education: I have my bachelors degree in Psychology and sociology with a minor in Gerontology.

 

 

Nicole Zielinski- Assistant Aquatic Director

 

Title/Job & Company: Assistant Aquatics DirectorWhat I love most about the Smithfield YMCA is the family we have here. Members, staff, and visitors are instantly welcomed and form long-lasting relationships.  I work at the Smithfield YMCA because the environment we have created here makes what I do fun and not feel like a job. I get to work with my friends, teach young children how to swim, and mentor our swim team.    I’ve been involved with the Smithfield YMCA for 6 years My Favorite YMCA Memoryis coaching our Dolphins and Unified Dolphins swim teams. My oldest daughter competes on the swim team and is a volunteer with the Unified swim team and watching her grow in her experiences with both teams brings me joy.Other work experience: General Manager at The Halstead at Slatersville Mill, Marketing Specialist with HallKeen Management, IT and Training Director at Barkan ManagementFamily: I have been married to my Husband Josh for 10 years and we have three beautiful kids. Emma is 10, and Josh Jr. and his twin sister Zoe are 8.
Education: I graduated from Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD with degrees in Public Relations, Journalism, and Marketing

 

Tony Parente- Swim Coach

 

Title/Job & Company: Inovis Energy LLC & Director of Business Development
What I love most about the Smithfield YMCA:I enjoy helping the kids learn to swim and see them become lifelong friends with other YMCA friends.
I work at the Smithfield YMCA because: It is a great pace to help others. Both of my kids have worked here.
I’ve been involved with the Smithfield YMCA for 10 years.
Favorite YMCA Memory:Seeing my son qualify for the YMCA Short Course National Swimming Meet
Other work experience: National YMCA Swim Official Trainer, US Swim Official and High School Swim Official
Family: I have been married for 28 years to Diana. My son is 25 and daughter is 21.
Education: Bachelor of Arts & Double Major in Criminal Law and Mathematics. Double Minor in Chemistry and Philosophy.
Something that may surprise you about me/interesting fact about me: I am a twin, I scored 100 three times on the ASVAB test, and I have a tractor trailer license

 

Josh Brown- Swim Coach

 

Title/Job & Company:Owner/Operator of Brown Bear Home Solutions Handyman Services, Property Maintenance, and Home Improvement
What I love most about the Smithfield YMCA: The family atmosphere!
I work at the Smithfield YMCA because: I enjoy coaching and love watching the team grow
I’ve been involved with the Smithfield YMCA for 7 years this go round I have had the Smithfield Y has been part of my life many times
Favorite YMCA Memory: I have to say seeing my oldest daughter join and fall in love with he swim team
Other work experience: Big Blue Bug, Brown Bear Home Solutions
Family: I was married for about 10 years got divorced in 2015 I have 2 amazing daughters from that marriage Zoe and Cora. I got remarried to my amazing wife Cara in September 2020 (COVID wedding).
Education:Life Haha I went to NPHS then attend CCRI didn’t know what I wanted to do so went through EMT training and worked as an EMT for about 15 years.
Something that may surprise you about me/interesting fact about me: I have a passion for cooking anything from making and decorating birthday cakes to smoking an alligator. I love the outdoors hiking camping fishing biking going to the ocean. I am happiest being outside. Almost moved to Aruba to work as a captain on a pirate ship. No not a real one it was for tourists sunset cruises snorkeling cruises.
