As most Rhode Islanders are aware, we are facing an opioid crisis. We all know someone who has been affected by this epidemic. However, there is something we can all do to help prevent these overdoses. The Southern Providence County (SPC) Regional Prevention Coalition is joining efforts to help prevent and reduce the number of overdoses in RI. We are partnering with the organization Parent Support Network that will train your staff / members to recognize an overdose and how to reverse it.
The training is free of charge and is approximately 30 minutes long. The program teaches participants about the opioid epidemic, the risks of these drugs, how to recognize an opioid overdose, and how to administer Narcan. Participants will be provided with the Narcan spray.
RI’s goal is to have every community member carry Narcan so they can help save a life.
